As part of BFI’s Future Film Festival we will be showcasing a newly cut version of HOMELANDS bringing together the highlights of the individual journeys of 4 UK artists: Shakka, Diztortion, Terri Walker and Saskilla.

In October 2016, we premiered the global journeys of 4 UK artists at The Old Rep, Birmingham and BFI, London taking an audience to 4 parts of the world through special screenings of each journey and a debut performance of each specially commissioned tracks composed, performed and produced during their residencies.

We return to the BFI, London for the Future Film Festival to premiere the newly cut documentary of HOMELANDS and the screening will include a special Q&A with the film directors Tara Manandhar & Jaha Browne.

HOMELANDS celebrates the influence of the parental heritage of four contemporary UK Black artists exploring what impact their culture has had on them as artists and British artists.

An unexpected journey of discovery and insight, HOMELANDS followed the journeys to the motherlands of acclaimed Grime MC Saskilla (Senegal), RnB Mercury prize nominee Terri Walker (Jamaica), GRM award winning producer Diztortion (Suriname), and double MOBO winning RnB singer Shakka (Dominica).
