GAMBIMI will be representing BIRMINGHAM on the inaugural WELCOME TO MY CITY tour.
Inspired by artists such as Chris Brown and Ne-yo, R’n’B singer/songwriter Gambimi has taken the popular genre and put his own twist on things through clever wordplay and beautifully balanced harmonies.
Originating from Brazzaville, Congo, Hardy Celeste Gabriel-Gambimi aka Gambimi was destined to make music. Hailing from a musical background, Gambimi moved to Birmingham at a young age. After originally struggling to adapt to life in the United Kingdom, Gambimi found a release through music.
Fast forward to 2016 and you may very well have heard Gambimi’s music being featured regularly on BBC Radio 1Xtra by DJs such as Charlie Sloth, MistaJam and Ace after being supported heavily by BBC Introducing West Midlands. Gambimi’s music has also been played on Huw Stephens Radio 1 show.
What about the Welcome to My City tour are you most looking forward to?
I’m very much looking forward to the tour Punch Records have put together, as a Music Potential graduate i understand how much of a big opportunity this is for me, that’s why i am grateful to be selected and to be working with Punch again.
What are the best 3 things about your city?
1) We have a very strong community spirit.
2) The diversity within the city is amazing! You can meet people from all over the world.
3) It’s a very youthful city with lots of opportunities for young people.
