This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is great at talking, getting on with people and passionate about music and visual art to sell Punch’s work. Punch commissions and produces work in a range of art forms including; dance, music, visual arts and film and over the last five years Punch has expanded it’s range of touring exhibitions.

BASS 2010 launched last week with a fantastic evening of visual art, great food and a few glasses of wine!

We chose to open the festival with our Protest: Fight the Power exhibition at the newly opening Zellig building, Custard Factory.

The exhibition is open until the end of June, Monday – Saturday 10am – 5pm and it is FREE.

Jah Shaka comes to Birmingham

This exclusive event will be Roots Rock Reggae Music at it’s finest with the spiritual messenger JAH SHAKA at the controls in an all night session.

JAH SHAKA is the King of Dub – a  Producer, Selector, Chanter, Messenger and phenomenol Vocal Artist.

With over 35 years in the business Shaka’s message is coming to Birmingham!

FREE workshops with the BBC

BASS Festival workshopsAs part of BASS Festival, BBC Radio Drama, Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Punch are collaborating on a 2-part workshop to explore the methods, challenges and opportunities of creating new writer-performer work for theatre and radio.

Specifically aimed at spoken word artists, performance poets and lyricists, the 1st workshop will cover writing skills and help generate ideas towards experimenting with performance and recording in the 2nd workshop.

To apply, please send a short letter stating your interest in the workshop and a sample of your work (this can be a website link) to clare.lovell{at}birmingham-rep.co.uk by 5pm on 24th May 2010.

Workshops take place on the 7th and 10th June, 2pm- 6pm. Participants MUST attend both workshops and be over the age of 18.
