Normski – Hip Hop Exposures
Normski is generally considered to be the top UK commentator on all things urban. In fact he describes himself and his career as Renaissance Man.
For a lot of people Normski is name synonymous not only with music, dance, radio and the raucous and wildly energetic Monday night institution “Dance Energy” but with photography also.
A pioneer, innovator and champion for the Hip Hop generation, this new exhibition gives us a chance to see the iconic photos from a man who has led an extraordinary life – inspiring and educating all who meet him by breaking down cultural barriers and teaching acceptance and understanding to a new generation.

Normski’s Exhibition Tour will be a photographic journey looking at the history of British Hip Hop, Black music and its contributors, from the ‘60s right up to the present day with a strong emphasis on the black music scenes in the areas around the three main cosmopolitan cites– London, Birmingham & Manchester.
There will also be a strong focus on how young people view and engage with music today, given that the term “Urban Music” is now used to describe music that originally stems from Black music.
Tracing the developments of music through the decades from Hip Hop to Garage and Grime, this exciting exhibition documents the contribution of past DJs, MCs, rappers, promoters and sound systems to the shaping of today’s UK music scene.
Touring in 2010/11.
